Canadian Geographic Travel releases all-Alberta edition

An exclusive, Alberta-themed issue of Canadian Geographic Travel is hitting newsstands April 28. The entire issue features stories about the exceptional and diverse tourism and cultural experiences available in Alberta complemented by partner advertising.

This is the first time that Canadian Geographic Travel has ever dedicated a full issue to a single province.

This 84-page Alberta edition offers feature stories, compelling photography, and an assortment of useful travel tips including top-ten lists, sightseeing ideas and event suggestions. Both Summer and Winter in Alberta are featured with a cover on each side of the magazine along with stories and imagery showcasing both seasons.

This issue is expected to reach more than 3.6 million in total readership.



Alberta’s tourism industry had the opportunity to participate in this exclusive marketing opportunity through Travel Alberta’s partner buy-in program.

Canadian Geographic facilitated a photo contest from July to December 2013 in four categories: Wildlife in Alberta, Breathtaking Landscapes, Authentic Experiences, and Travel Portraits. The winning photos were then voted on by the public to determine the two cover shots. Over 7,200 votes were cast – more than any other previous cover contest Canadian Geographic has held. The two covers chosen (see below) were runaway winners.

Beyond the printed magazine, readers can find out more about Alberta through the magazine’s digital edition, social media activities, exclusive additional website content, featured e-newsletters, and a one-week takeover of the Canadian Geographic website.

This opportunity with Canadian Geographic Travel Magazine allows Travel Alberta to connect with travellers who know and love the Canadian Geographic brand, to reach short and long-haul Canadian markets, and grow our photo resources with user-generated content through social media activities.
