Edmonton Tourism Launches Twitter Vending Machine
A vending machine that offers you more than snacks and bottled water?! That's right; Edmonton Tourism's Twitter vending machine will hit the open road to Fort McMurray and Saskatoon this summer, enticing visitors to tweet and win one of many great prizes including hotel stays, gift cards, attractions passes and more.
"This is a great opportunity for us to reach visitors in neighbouring cities to encourage them to make a trip to Edmonton this summer," says Maggie Davison, vice president of Edmonton Tourism. "Edmonton was recently recognized, by National Geographic, as one of the best summer destinations in 2015. With festivals and events, concerts, great restaurants, local boutiques, and long summer days, Edmonton is the place to visit."
Edmonton Tourism is stepping into non-traditional marketing territory with the innovative Twitter-activated vending machine – showing the city's uniqueness in how we do ordinary things.
"Our team has worked closely with all of our tourism businesses and they've shown us tremendous support by offering prizes to fill the vending machine," says Davison. "We are fortunate to have such a great tourism community and we get excited about opportunities to show visitors our authentic and unique experiences."
From festival tickets and shopping gift cards to hotel stays and attraction passes, Edmonton is ready to extend a warm welcome to visitors. Watch for the vending machine and visit us on June 27 in Fort McMurray and July 1, at the Saskatoon Jazz Festival. A simple tweet can win you a weekend in Edmonton. Be sure to include the hashtag #ExploreEdmonton.
